Reasons to Avoid Rust At All Costs

The most obvious negative that rust brings to a vehicle is to its style. Any way you try to swing it, rust damage is ugly. It creates holes in parts of your vehicle, and of course causes that copper-tinged color. Even beyond that, there are plenty of reasons why you’ll want to keep rust away from your vehicle. Over time, that corrosion can eat through integral parts of the vehicle. This can bring about severe safety issues, essentially making your vehicle undrivable.

Once a little bit of rust appears, it doesn’t take long before it starts spreading. One of the worst parts is that rust isn’t always easily visible. You’ll want to really get down underneath and check everything out, which our team does. You can also feel free to have an independent inspection before choosing one of our rust free trucks for sale. We want our customers to be as confident as possible when they drive away, or have one of our vehicles shipped out.

Our Mechanics Love Our Rust Free Trucks

We have our own ASE certified service shop right here at our dealership. Robert our service advisor is the man and his team are the ones that inspect every rust free truck we send here. When they get under a truck and can take everything apart with hand tools, they just love it. No crazy torches, huge pry bars and back breaking rusty parts to repair and replace. When it comes to these southern trucks, inspections and repairs are a breeze.

Every vehicle that we sell goes through a bumper to bumper inspection with Robert. He will not let any vehicle we sell go down the road with problems. We are in a small town on the outskirts of Chicago suburbs, and if you sell a vehicle with problems people will know. You need to keep a great reputation to stay open in these small towns, and we have a good one. Our Google reviews, Facebook reviews and even Car Gurus are all positive. We strive to keep customers happy and that is a big part of the reason we built our state of the art Service Center. So we can offer piece of mind after a purchase of a vehicle. How Rust Forms, and How to Avoid It

Rust forms through a process called corrosion, which occurs when three specific factors come together. The scientific terms for these factors are anodes, cathodes and electrolytes. What you need to know is that when an exposed metal on your vehicle (acting as both anode and cathode) comes into contact with water (or any other electrolyte), rust can form.

There are some things out there that can make corrosion happen more readily. This includes salt, which as we know is prevalent on roads throughout much of the United States. Your vehicle’s coat of paint is meant to protect from rust, and will usually do a good job until that paint starts to chip or fade over time. Keep an eye out for areas of rust around chipped paint. You’ll also want to check your engine, wheel wells, and undercarriage, as these can be common trouble spots.

Preventing Rust 101

The main thing you can do to prevent rest is to take good care of your vehicle. Regular maintenance is a must. If you see your coat of paint starting to wear or chip, make sure to contact someone about applying a touch-up or even a completely new coat. Keeping your truck clean is important for your paint’s health. If you want to prevent rust in the long-run, regular trips to the car wash can be helpful. Be sure to choose a wash that gets the underside of your vehicle, or you’ll have to wash that area yourself.

Does your vehicle see more exposure to salt, water, or other elements that may cause rust? You’ll want to look into products that you can apply to vulnerable areas that will apply a seal on the surface to defend from corrosion. They range in price, but make sure to read up on customer reviews to get something that actually works instead of wasting your money.
