Custom Truck Builds

Custom truck builds, done entirely in-house
A custom truck is easy to describe and hard to get right. The lift has to match the tire, the tire has to match the wheel offset, the offset has to clear the flare, and all of it has to survive a Midwest winter and a daily commute. Get one decision wrong and you find out about it at 70 mph.
We build over 500 trucks a year at our own shop in Braidwood, Illinois – buying, lifting, aligning, fabricating and detailing under one roof. Nothing is farmed out to a third party, which is why we can tell you what a build will cost and when it will be ready.
You can bring us a truck you already own, or we can source one from the inventory we buy every week and build it to your spec before you ever see it in person. Either way, you sign off on the parts list before a wrench is picked up.
We have been doing this since 2007 and building lifted vehicles exclusively since 2017. Finished builds ship nationwide.

Where your truck gets built - and how we get it to you
Every build happens at our own facility in Braidwood, Illinois, an hour south of Chicago: three acres of trucks, ten mechanic lifts, a Hunter alignment rack, an in-house fabrication bay and a four-stage detail process. Nothing leaves the property until it has been aligned, road tested and cleaned. Local customers drive in from Chicago, Joliet, Naperville, Aurora, Plainfield and across Chicagoland. Everyone else we ship to - we deliver finished builds to all fifty states, and plenty of our customers buy and build a truck without ever setting foot in Illinois. We send photos and video at every stage so nobody is buying blind.
What to know before starting a custom build
A build goes well when the decisions get made in the right order. A few things worth knowing before you start:
- Start with the use case: towing, trails, daily driving and shows pull the spec in different directions. Decide what the truck is for before you pick a lift height.
- Tire size drives everything: wheel offset, fender clearance, gearing, speedometer calibration and brake feel all follow from the tire. Pick it early.
- Gearing is not optional on big tires: past about 35 inches most trucks need a regear to drive the way they did from the factory.
- Budget the labor, not just the parts: a parts list is roughly half a build. Fabrication, alignment, wiring and finish work are the other half.
- Lead time is about parts, not capacity: most builds run two to six weeks. Backordered suspension and custom paint are what move that date.
- Keep it street legal: lift height limits, tire coverage and lighting rules vary by state. We build to the rules where the truck will be registered.
Tell us the truck, the budget and what you’ll use it for, and we’ll come back with a spec and a real number before you commit.
Custom Truck Build FAQs
How much does a custom truck build cost?
It depends where you start and where you want to finish. A daily driver build is a very different number from a 40-inch off-road rig with a regear and custom paint. We quote parts and labor separately so you can see what is driving the price, and we will tell you where the money is best spent.
Can you build a truck I already own?
Yes, and plenty of builds start that way. Bring it in or send photos with the year, make, model and trim and we will tell you what it can take. If part of the plan is a bad idea for that platform, we will say so before you buy anything.
Can you source the truck for me too?
We buy vehicles every week and hold three acres of inventory, so we can find a base truck to your spec and build it before you ever see it. You approve the truck and the parts list, we send photos and video through the build, and it ships when it is finished.
How long does a custom build take?
Most builds run two to six weeks once the parts are in hand. Suspension backorders and custom paint are the two things that stretch that. We give you a realistic date at the quote and tell you if it moves.
Do you ship finished builds?
Yes, to all fifty states. We arrange shipping and quote it up front. A lot of our customers buy and build without ever visiting Illinois, which is why we document every stage with photos and video.
