A truck rarely leaves our shop the way it arrived. Bumpers, lighting, steps, racks, covers – the parts that turn a truck into your truck are also the parts most likely to be fitted badly. Loose brackets, holes drilled in the wrong place, wiring spliced into the first live circuit somebody found.
At Ultimate Rides we install truck and SUV accessories the same way we build the lifted trucks we sell: torqued to spec, wired to its own fused circuit, and lined up so the panels sit the way the factory intended. We work on trucks we sold and plenty we didn’t.
Most single accessory jobs are done the same day. Bigger builds – a steel winch bumper with a full harness, or a bed rack and tonneau combination – usually take a day in the shop, and we’ll tell you which one yours is before we start.

What to know before adding truck accessories
Accessory work is straightforward when it’s planned, and expensive when it isn’t. A few things are worth understanding before you book:
- Fitment is trim-specific: the same model year can have three different bumper mounts depending on package and sensors. Send us your VIN or trim and we’ll check before you buy.
- Weight changes stance: a steel bumper and winch can add 200 lb to the front axle and drop the nose. A leveling kit often goes on at the same time for that reason.
- Wiring needs its own circuit: anything drawing power gets a fused feed and a relay, not a splice into whatever was nearest.
- Some parts need drilling: we’ll tell you before we do it, and any bare metal gets treated so it doesn’t rust later.
- Sensors and cameras matter: parking sensors, blind-spot radar and reverse cameras can all be relocated. Done badly, they throw dash errors.
- Keep your factory parts: original bumpers, steps and covers are worth money when you sell the truck.

Truck Accessory Installation FAQs
How much does truck accessory installation cost?
It depends entirely on the part. A set of running boards or a tonneau cover is usually an hour or two. A steel winch bumper with wiring, or a full lighting setup with a switch panel, takes most of a day. We quote labor up front once we know the year, make, model and the exact parts you want fitted.
Can I bring my own parts?
Yes. We install customer-supplied accessories all the time. We check fitment before we start, and if a part is wrong for your truck we would rather tell you than force it. Parts you bought elsewhere keep their own manufacturer warranty, and our labor is warranted by us.
Will accessories void my factory warranty?
Installing an accessory does not void your warranty on its own. A dealer can deny a claim if a specific failure was caused by an aftermarket part, which is why we wire to fused circuits and use manufacturer-specified mounting. Keep your paperwork so you have a record of how the work was done.
Do I need an alignment after adding accessories?
Usually not for bolt-on accessories like steps, covers or racks. Heavy front-end additions – steel bumpers, winches, plow mounts – change front axle load and ride height, so we recommend an alignment check afterwards. We run a Hunter alignment rack in-house, so it gets done here.
How long will my truck be in the shop?
Most single accessory installs are same-day. Multi-part builds – bumper, winch, lighting and a rack together – we usually book for a full day. We give you a realistic time when we quote the job, and we call you if anything changes once the truck is on the lift.
