What to Know Before Installing a BDS Lift Kit
A little planning helps you pick the right system and get an accurate quote.
- Confirm fitment: BDS kits are specific to model year, drivetrain and trim, and some aren’t compatible with certain packages or factory suspension options.
- Choose your shocks: many kits come with a choice of FOX shocks or coilovers, which changes both ride quality and price.
- Plan your wheels and tires: lift height, tire size, wheel width and backspacing have to work together, and larger setups may need trimming.
- Allow for alignment and calibration: ride height changes your alignment, and some newer trucks need driver-assist sensors recalibrated after a lift.
- Register your warranty: BDS backs its products with its No Fine Print warranty, and its 5-year, 60,000-mile drivetrain coverage requires separate registration.
Not sure which kit suits your goals? Our team can walk you through the BDS options for your truck.
BDS Lift Kit Installation FAQs
How much does BDS lift kit installation cost?
It depends on the kit, your truck and any extra work the install turns up. BDS systems range from simple leveling kits to complete 6-inch coilover lifts, and labor grows with the number of parts being replaced. Our lift kit installation cost guide covers typical ranges, and we’ll quote your exact truck and kit before any work starts.
Can you install a BDS kit I already bought?
Contact us with the BDS part number and your vehicle details before booking. Our team will check that the kit matches your truck, confirm whether any extra parts are needed and quote the installation.
How long does a BDS lift kit install take?
Most lift installs at Ultimate Rides are finished within one to two days, depending on the system. Kits with new crossmembers, knuckles or radius arms take longer than a leveling kit, and the time also covers alignment and final checks.
Do I need an alignment after installing a BDS lift?
Yes. Changing ride height changes your alignment and steering geometry, so we align every lift we install on our in-house Hunter alignment equipment. Some newer trucks also need driver-assist sensors recalibrated.
What warranty comes with a BDS lift kit?
BDS covers its products under its No Fine Print warranty, and lift systems can also qualify for a 5-year, 60,000-mile drivetrain warranty when registered through BDS Factory Protection Plus. FOX shocks and coilovers are covered by FOX’s own warranty. Check the current terms for your kit on the BDS website.
